I have a tattoo for my faith. I’ve wanted a tattoo for my writing for years. Tattoos are expensive. I decided that the first time I made money from writing, that’s what I would do with it. I would get my tattoo.
I’ve even known exactly what I would get: a dandelion petal and seed. I can write with all the heart and soul that I have, all the skill I’ve managed to develop, but then…all I can do is set them free. I can toss them out on the wind with a wish and hope they find somewhere to take root and grow. I hope they prove as hardy and tenacious as the dandelion.
Oh how I love the dandelion. It’s so adaptable. It’s so persistent. It’s so. very. hard. to get rid of. It’s useful. It’s magic. It’s the essence of summer and childhood and hope.
I don’t care if it’s a basic design for tattoos and home decor. It’s basic for a reason. We all desperately want to hold on to that childhood innocence, that belief in magic and the power of a wish.
So anyway, I sold a story, and I did a thing. It was just done an hour ago, so it obviously hasn’t healed yet, but I am so so very happy with it. Thank you thank you thank you Air and Nothingness Press for buying my first story!
